Don’t worry, there’s no judgment here! A doula is like your own personal tour guide through pregnancy, labour, and birth.

As your doula, I’m ALL in on supporting you with physical, emotional, and informational support as your delivery date draws near.

If you’ve got a bazillion questions about pregnancy or the birth process, ask away! My goal is to help you feel calm, confident, and empowered as you prepare for your baby.

Giving birth is an experience like no other.

It’s a maze of ups, downs, and unpredictability and as your doula, I’m here to help guide you through it with unbiased, continuous support. From the moment you hire me as your birth doula, I become available to answer your questions, provide you with evidence-based information (if you want it), and reassure you every step of the way.

I also visit your home for prenatal meetings where I can help you go over birth preferences, answer questions, and show you and your birth partner easy, effective comfort measures and pain-coping strategies for the birth. (These visits are always informative and fun)!

Hey, I’m Lindsay (she/her) – a self-proclaimed Birth Nerd and cat meme enthusiast. I'm on a mission to help people have less painful pregnancies, better birth experiences and faster postpartum recoveries. I opened Guelph Prenatal Massage in hopes of creating a meeting place for pregnant people and their babies to get personalized care with their needs and desires at the forefront.

I never say no to coffee, love Halloween and when I'm not on call for babies - I can be found backcountry camping with my partner, Dave.

Why hire a doula?

In short, a doula is your own personal tour guide through pregnancy, labour and birth. They’ll point out all the must see attractions, give you thoughtful answers to your questions about what you’re seeing/experiencing, give you insider tips on how to make the most of this time, and they’ll help you create and navigate the kind of journey you’re hoping for. It has been proven that people with continuous support from a doula during labour are more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and less likely to have pain medication, epidurals, negative feelings about childbirth and cesarean births (Bohren et al. Cochrane Review, 2017).

So, are you like a midwife?

My partner doesn’t think I need a doula because they’ll be with me.

This isn't a question but it is a concern that pops up lot. As your tour guide, a doula does not minimize this special time between you and your partner. They are there to be a part of your already strong team of supporters. A doula can help a partner just as much as the birthing parent by giving them reassurance, allow them to take breaks and get food/sleep/a moment if needed. I always say, I know labour and birth and your partner knows you so together we make the perfect team!

I’m giving birth in a hospital/with a doctor, can I still hire a doula?
